| A species that requires a little persistence here. Trying to catch them is made harder as you get Flounder after your bait which means it is hit or miss as the beach which we get them on is one of the best Flounder marks I have ever fished. Belhaven is the producer of the Scottish record for shore caught Turbot. |
Not big but its a Turbot. Alan Pemberton got this fella on an outing with the IAC at Belhaven bay.

| There are a few things you can try to make your efforts worth while. Live sandeel is great and from what I believe the Turbots favourite food. Live sandeel is hard to get but frozen sandeel although not as good as live will do. Razorfish is another good Turbot bait. Fish bait works well but Turbot will take all sea baits. These are just my preferences.
I find that distance is generally needed and would use a beach-casting setup for this purpose. If close enough I like light lining but it is hit or miss as I have found out now and then. |
